- Do I have to show this card to anyone?
- No. It’s a personal reference for you — there’s nothing you’re required to carry or show. Under the ADA a business may not demand documentation, an ID, or registration; you only answer the two questions out loud.
- Is this an official service dog ID or certificate?
- No, and it’s deliberately not designed to look like one. Service dogs are not required to be registered or certified under the ADA, and no such credential officially exists. This card only explains your rights and the business’s limits.
- What are the two questions exactly?
- When it isn’t obvious what the dog does, staff may ask only: (1) is the dog required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has it been trained to perform. They may not ask about your disability or require a demonstration.
